AdvaMed named Peter Arduini, CEO of GE HealthCare, as chair of its board of directors on Monday. The medical device lobby also announced the creation of a new division focused on policy issues for medical imaging technology.

Arduini has been acting chair over the past few weeks, after former Johnson & Johnson MedTech CEO Ashley McEvoy stepped down. The announcement formalizes his position, which he will serve in for two years. Arduini has been GE HealthCare’s CEO since January 2022; before that, he was the CEO of neurosurgery device company Integra LifeSciences.

“The timing of Peter Arduini’s election as our new Chair couldn’t be better,” AdvaMed CEO Scott Whitaker said in a press statement. The advocacy organization hopes to leverage Arduini’s role as leader of a medical imaging company in its new committee.
