As health care expenditures continue to grow nationally, states are especially interested in increasing how much oversight they have over health care costs — not just for their state Medicaid programs, but also for private insurance.
Some states have pioneered new programs to increase their oversight over drug costs, health care costs, and health care mergers, and those are beginning to generate both results and lessons learned. Others are figuring out the details of how their approved statutes will work, and yet more are still deciding if they want to go down those roads.
