Toronto-bound flight lands at Pearson Airport after mayday call

A Porter Airlines flight from Ottawa managed to land safely at Toronto Pearson Airport on Wednesday evening after making a mayday call.

A spokesperson for the airline told blogTO that the flight crew "received an indication that led them to follow standard procedures" by declaring a mayday. Flight 2708 departed from Ottawa International Airport just before 5 p.m. and landed safely in Toronto approximately one hour later.

"Passengers deplaned on the tarmac after landing safely and were bussed to the terminal fairly quickly," the spokesperson added.

Photos taken at the scene show the plane surrounded by emergency services on the tarmac. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The Porter Airlines spokesperson confirmed that preliminary inspections indicate there are no issues with the aircraft. It is not known at this time how many passengers were onboard the plane.
