Hospital price transparency isn’t an easy change to bring about — but Cynthia Fisher’s advocacy on the issue is gaining momentum. An entrepreneur who previously worked in biotech as well as a wealthy philanthropist, Fisher has recruited everyone from rapper Fat Joe to actor Susan Sarandon to her efforts to hold hospitals accountable to regulations requiring that they disclose price information to potential patients. Though some hospitals are still failing to comply with transparency rules, Fisher is determined to keep pushing — and she’s confident it will pay off, not just for patients but also for employers, in the long run.
